Colin Armstrong Architects are delighted to have received planning permission on behalf of Highlands and Islands Enterprise for a new Food & Drink Tech Hub in Alness.
Located at Fyrish House in Teaninich Industrial Estate, Alness, the building will provide incubation and test kitchen space alongside co-working and meeting facilities. There will also be a space suitable for events and demonstrations. The design is intended to support innovation and collaboration by creating a flexible facility that can accommodate a range of uses.
This is the initial phase of a project that will eventually see the entire building converted to Tech Hub use. This sustainable retrofit will make use of a building that has been vacant for several years and will also involve upgrading the building fabric and providing new, low-carbon heating and ventilation throughout.
In addition to CAA, the design team includes Rybka, Fairhurst, McLeod & Aitken, New Acoustics and Jensen Hughes, with Client’s Agent services provided by HIE’s Prime Consultant, The Torrance Partnership. Construction is expected to commence later this year.
