Research Field Station, Staff Accommodation & Interpretation Centre
Colin Armstrong Architects were shortlisted amongst 26 national/local practices and subsequently won a two-stage tender bid for this new field and interpretation centre on a remote site. CAA assembled the team, which included combined civil/structural and full M & E consultancy services. At our insistence, BIM collaboration was utilised to develop and deliver the project.
A significant part of the commission involved the development of the client’s brief. This was then progressed into the developed sketch proposals and planning/warrant approval stage before being delivered by working closely with O’Brien Construction throughout the construction phase. CAA’s input involved coordinating other consultant design team members in the development of the proposals.
The project consists of a new field and interpretation centre on a remote site. The building has been designed to minimise the impact of what is quite a large building for its setting within the landscape.
